Delta40 Energy
Program
By 2100, nearly 40% of the global population—or approximately 4.2B people—will live in Africa. This represents an incredible opportunity and an urgent need to invest in entrepreneurs in Africa who are driving sustainable economic growth, creating jobs, and tackling climate change. One of the greatest innovation and investment opportunities in Africa today lies in providing clean, affordable energy solutions to this fast-growing market.
At Delta40, we invest in and support African entrepreneurs on the frontlines who are innovating and scaling high-impact solutions in energy, agriculture, and electric mobility. Energy access is one of our core focus areas given the importance of energy in agriculture, mobility, economic development, and job creation. We believe it is a particularly exciting time to invest in energy in Africa, propelled by tailwinds such as battery storage cost reductions, more efficient business models to deploy energy solutions, and initiatives that are driving more commercial and catalytic capital into the sector.
We are rolling out and growing 3 major initiatives to catalyze, support, and scale energy innovation in Africa:
Energy & Mobility Innovation Program
Our 10-month Energy & Mobility Innovation Program for scientific and technical founders across Africa, supported by the Lemelson Foundation, is centered around addressing critical gaps in energy access and mobility. This program will provide unique venture studio support and funding opportunities to all its participants to drive needle-moving innovations that scale across the continent and impact customers, employees, investors, and corporates at scale. t will focus on Clean Energy Access––including Grid, Mini-Grid, Off-Grid Solar Innovations and Productive Use of Electricity; Clean Cooking Solutions; E-Mobility Innovations; and Data & AI to Advance Energy Access and Finance.

Energy & Mobility Scale Summit October 2025
Similar to our 2024 Innovation Scale Summit with Novo Nordisk Foundation and Bio Innovation Institute which led to several incredible tangible outcomes from cross-border mergers & acquisitions, to investments and corporate partnerships, our Energy & Mobility Scale Summit will provide selected ventures from the Innovation Program with access to our highly curated Ecosystem where they will have the opportunity to pitch to leading entrepreneurs, investors, corporates and other key ecosystem leaders for the purpose of catalyzing innovation and investment in the energy and mobility sector in Africa.
Delta40 is planning our Summit for Q4 2025. Please reach out if you would like to be a partner or get involved.
The Delta40 M300 Action Memo: Orthodox and unorthodox ideas
We recently published our M300 Action Memo which outlines practical ideas to accelerate energy access, from scaling existing companies to innovative finance facilities and policy shifts that could significantly reduce costs for consumers. We integrated insights from our own experience and investments as well as input from leading energy companies, investors, corporates and foundations in the sector. A priority innovation area is to design new catalytic capital facilities for the sector and we will kick off this work in February 2025.
